Contact the Firm

Patrick A. Foley is the managing partner of John R. Foley, P.C. and leads the firm’s Business & Bankruptcy practice. He represents business owners, professionals, investors, fiduciaries, and trustees in corporate bankruptcy, commercial litigation, financial disputes, and complex reorganizations — often stepping in when the financial or legal stakes are at their highest.

Patrick launched his legal career as lead counsel to the Chapter 7 Trustee in the national liquidation of a 70-plus-location franchise operation, a fast-paced, high-liability case that required immediate command of operational wind-downs, lease negotiations, claims resolution, and the preservation of estate assets across multiple jurisdictions. That experience became the foundation for a career built on navigating legal and financial complexity under pressure.

Today, Patrick’s practice spans the full business and bankruptcy waterfront: Chapter 11 and Subchapter V reorganization, adversary proceedings under ยงยง 523, 727, 547, and 548, partnership and shareholder disputes, breach of fiduciary duty claims, commercial contract litigation, and the transactional work that supports all of it. He has obtained multiple successful jury verdicts in business litigation and has prevailed in multi-million-dollar divorce estate matters on the firm’s family-law side, where his financial litigation background supports asset discovery and valuation.

Patrick is also actively engaged in the firm’s family law and probate practice, collaborating with his father, John R. Foley, on cases involving business ownership, asset tracing, trust and estate disputes, and complex divorce proceedings with significant marital estates.

Patrick has been selected to Michigan Super Lawyers in 2026 — the primary Super Lawyers list, limited to the top 5% of attorneys in the state — following six consecutive years on the Super Lawyers Rising Stars list from 2020 through 2025. He was named to DBusiness Magazine’s Top Lawyers list for 2025 and profiled in Marquis Who’s Who for leadership in legal practice.
